Title                    : Another Piece of My Heart

Thickness            : 400 pages

“I don’t know you but I know you have time. We all have time to do the things we want to do, and if we don’t, we make it. You only run out of time for the things you don’t want to do.” (page 41)

Seeing the divorcement of your parents, living with your stepmother whom you don’t love, doing tantrum just to make your father believe in you, and getting pregnant when you’re in eighteen years old, that’s all about Emily’s life. Yes, Emily must live without her real mom, because her parents are divorced. Her dad doesn't want to live with her mom anymore. He chooses to live with Andi, a woman whom he’s just met for several weeks.
Ethan, Emily’s dad, always says that everything’s going to be alright, but Andi almost gives up with these situations... until Emily gives birth to Cal. Emily asked her to keep Cal. Emily doesn't want Cal to be kept by others.
Then, after three years, Emily comes back to her dad’s house. First, she just wants to know about Cal’s life. She wants to be his mom for a few days, but unfortunately Cal doesn't want to be with Emily. Cal gets tantrum and Andi should bring this problem to the court. She has prepared everything to win the council. Emily should choose the best for her life and her family.
“Sometimes, leaving the ones we love is the only way we can take care of ourselves, and it’s the hardest thing in the world to do. But sometimes it’s the right thing to do.” (page 376)
That’s just a little synopsis about this book. I really love this book because this book tells us about a (real) family life. Well, I’m from Indonesia and I've never found this kind of book in my country. Actually we have a lot of romance novel. So, it’s very new for me. I can learn that life isn't that simple as people think. We should do an extra effort to get what we want to get.

The reviewer,

Note : It’s my first time to review an English novel, so I need extra corrections and advises toward my review. J

Uhmm so touching. Literary emily doesn't get cal. But she can be his sister, not his mom
